Home Grow Your Own Work Motivation
In today’s world of work, the corproate approach to motivation has dramatically shifted from one of employee incentive programs, perks and management cheerleading to one of “at least you still have a job”. While some motivating intiatives may creep back into companies over time, the good old days may never be the same.
The reality is, we do need our jobs, and if companies are not going to focus on work motivation then it is important that we create our own motivation. Work motivation is extremely important—it keeps us sane and able to press on through challenging times.
Here are some suggestions for creating your own homegrown work motivation.
1. Your mental attitude is critical. Always remember the big picture life results of your work. Work is not just about accomplishing a given task or contributing to the bottom line of the company—it is much more. Think about the last vacation you were able to go on because the money you receive from working. Or it could be the great development you have received from your current role that could propel you into your next position. Make a list; keep personal post-it notes around your desk.
2. Don’t forget to take personal time. Sometimes we just need a personal health day to get our minds refreshed. When you work, work hard, but when you are drained take the time to rest.
3. Focus on your long term goals. You should incorporate long term life goals and career goals into plan. Never lose sight of how your present role plays into your long term goals.
4. Always try to make lemonade out of lemons. Every time you get frustrated, whether it be a co-workers poor communication skills, a criticism you received, etc., identify the positives you can pull out of the situation. How can you develop or perform better based on the problematic situation you encountered.
5. Create Bonds. Find those individuals who are like-minded and connect with them. Lean on each other for support and laugh at work. Try to keep your discussions away from the frustrations and downer conversations, and more about how to make your time at work as fun as possible while also maintaining performance excellence.
Remember, work motivation is all about you—your performance, your sanity, your life and career.

Well sounds strange , But it is in line with the present days corporate greed, the employees are dispensable and number of jobless is rising with every day. But let me tell you honestly, lack of motivation, the traditional way can still do mircles, maximising productivity, generate loyalty and have positive impact on the personal life of the employees. An indifferant attitude of the employers would have adverse effect in the longer terms.
